Around MHS: Girls tennis starts season 3-0 in dominant fashion

The Maumee girls tennis team went undefeated last week, beating Central Catholic, Wauseon and Rossford by a combined 14-1 total.

The Panthers picked up 5-0 wins over the Indians and Bulldogs, and they topped the Irish 4-1.

Samantha Mavis, Laurel Patrick and Kiersten Krout all went undefeated at the singles positions. Tylee Alvarez and Hilari Miko were unbeaten at doubles

Mckayla Hayes and Laci Winckowski won doubles matches against Rossford and Wauseon.

Maumee is now 3-0 on the season.

MHS boys golf

Zak Morris had a pair of rounds in the 30s, but the Maumee boys golf team dropped a pair of matches last week to Otsego and Southview.

Morris had an eagle on hole No. 2 at Heather Downs Country Club to score a 37 against the Knights. J.J. Pearce had a 44, Antonio Valadez added a 45, and Tommy Parker carded a 50 in the 168-176 loss to Otsego.

Morris had a 38 at Whiteford Valley Golf Club in a 159-170 loss to Southview. Valadez had a 41, Mateo Valadez added a 45, and Pearce had a 46.

MHS volleyball

Maumee opened its 2024 season with a 3-2 loss at Wauseon. The Panthers dropped the first two sets (25-21, 25-12) before winning the next two sets (25-19, 25-20). The Indians won the fifth set 17-15.
