Dugan leads Maumee cross country at Tiffin Carnival

Maumee freshman Arriana Dugan finished 28th out of 226 runners at the prestigious Tiffin Cross Country Carnival last weekend.

Dugan finished in 20 minutes, 20.2 seconds.

Kylie Brown finished in 27:31.3, and Penny Farley was right behind her in 27:31.4.

In the boys race at Tiffin, Ian Whetstone was the top finisher for the Panthers, coming in at 18:39.3, good for 127th place.

Gabe Dario finished in 18:45.2, Aaron Powell was next in 18:47.7. Noah Wagner finished the race in 19:57.9, and David Ybarra came through in 20:11.4.

In the boys open division, Carlos Ballez timed a 20:34.5. Desmond Fayerweather timed a 22:14.7, and Luke Reeves had a 24:15.2.

MHS boys golf

Antonio Valadez shot a 46 at Heather Downs County Club to lead Maumee, but the Panthers lost a narrow dual match to Bryan, 173-189.

Josh Pero and Tommy Parker both added 47s, and Jeremy Anderson-Wonnell had a 49.

Later in the week, the Panthers turned in a team score of 183 at the NBC Shootout at Stone Ridge.

Zak Morris had a 43 to pace Maumee. Anderson-Wonnell had a 45, Parker had a 47, and J.J. Peace added a 48.

MHS girls tennis

Samanta Mavis took first place in singles competition, helping lead Maumee to a team championship at the Fostoria Invitational.

The Panthers totaled 55 points to outpace six other teams.

Tylee Alvarez and Hilari Miko took second in second doubles. Laurel Patrick and Kiersten Krout took third at first doubles, and Mckayla Hayes and Laci Winckowski took third at third doubles.

Earlier in the week, the Panthers beat Fremont Ross, 3-2. Mavis and Krout took singles wins, and Hayes and Winckowski won at doubles.
