Kubicz brothers earn All-NBC honors

Ben Kubicz and WIll Kubicz made a return appearance on the All-Northern Buckeye Conference boys basketball list that was released last week.

Ben Kubicz was named to the second team All-NBC list while Will Kubicz was on the honorable mention list. They were both named honorable mention last season.

In addition, Ben Kubicz was named to the first team All-District 7 list. Will Kubicz and Mike Kiss were named honorable mention All-District 7.

Maumee coach T.J. Gillespie was proud that the players were recognized for their hard work and dedication.

“It’s awesome to see our guys give their all day after day and receive the recognition they deserve,” Gillespie said. “For our program, it’s motivation for the guys coming back and it signifies we have players that are really good.”

The Kubicz brothers will highlight a group of seven players who will return next year that all played significant varsity minutes this season.

The Panthers finished 6-17 overall and 2-12 in the NBC this season. They won a sectional semifinal game at Bryan before losing to second-seeded Bellevue in the sectional final.
