All any coach wants to see is their team improve from day one through the end of the season.
The Maumee dance team did just that for coach Madelyn Pierce, ending their season with a spot in the state competition at Heath High School in central Ohio a few weeks ago.
“The Maumee dance team's remarkable progress this year is a testament to their dedication, hard work and the strong bond they share,” Pierce said.
The Panthers were led by third-year varsity team members SaDonna Smith, Mackenzie Hayes and Emma Miller.
Ava Miller received her second-year varsity recognition.
First-year varsity awards went to Ava Varner, Ruby Felzer, Baylee Harris-Henry, Isabella Sarzynski, Hannah Stephenson, Lily Belew-Shoop, Maezy Kirk, Ariana Lewis and Lillian Porter.
Oluwasemilore Akinnuga and Camila Belcher were also recognized for their participation.
In addition to dancing at various school events and basketball games, they danced at all home football games.
They competed at the Anthony Wayne Dance Competition and finished first in pom and hip-hop.
“They've not only qualified for the state competition but have also significantly improved their skills and competitiveness,” Pierce said. “This group has expanded their styles and participated in more technique and master classes.
“This tight-knit group has fostered a supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to excel, leading to their collective success.”
